Hi Guys, I hope that you are all having a wonderful start to 2026 and that you are all looking forward to the upcoming spring with all the cactus and succulent jobs to do and happy at the thought of the exciting growing season getting closer and seeing your plants come into flower again.
I have had a fantastic start to 2026, I have been very busy filling up my new greenhouse with all my cacti and succulents and I am so happy to say that at last its all done haha, the only plants left to move into the greenhouse are all the cacti and succulents that are not cold hardy that I have to keep indoors over the winter but they will all be coming into the new greenhouse in April.

I have had a very exciting start to 2026 arranging all my plants into the new greenhouse.
My new greenhouse is one from Steeltechsheds, Steeltech are an Irish company that as well as selling super tough strong greenhouses they also sell steel sheds as well as other outbuildings like garden rooms, steel garages, home offices, steel warehouses and even steel homes, they are all built super strong and their greenhouses are built to withstand 200kph ( 125mph ) winds which is an absolute must where I live, I live right on the coast with the sea and beach practically right at the bottom of my garden, the storms and winds can be very strong here especially during the winter months and I knew that I needed a greenhouse that was going to be as strong as an Ox haha, Steeltech greenhouses are made with strong polycarbonate so if anything hits the roof or sides like flying debris, roof tiles or golf balls or your neighbours football haha then it can not smash like glass can, they are also built to last at least 20 years.

My new greenhouse is from Steeltechsheds and built to withstand 200kph (125mph) wind gusts.
My new greenhouse was delivered and installed at the end of November 2025 and I couldn’t wait to get moving the plants in there, however I had to do a few things first before I could start moving the plants in, I had to make sure I had the electrics all set up for the heater and dehumidifier and I wanted to bubble wrap the greenhouse inside for the winter as bubble wrapping will help to keep the heating costs down a little, I spent most of early December getting the greenhouse all prepped first and the second part moving the plants in and I have only just finished it all now in the first week of February 2026.
Moving the plants into the new greenhouse was truly so exciting and it was even more exciting to get arranging them onto the plant shelves and making a lovely display of them, now they plants can overwinter properly cool and dry in there for the rest of the winter, I will be keeping the greenhouse heated to a minimum temperature of around 5c/41F, when the cacti wake up in the springtime for their growing season they are going to love all that bright light in this new greenhouse, I really am so looking forward to seeing them burst into bud and flower this coming spring and summer.

I am so looking forward to seeing my cacti flower in my new greenhouse this Spring and Summer.
I have been filming the whole process of moving the plants into my new greenhouse on my You Tube Channel called Desert Plants of Avalon, I have been filming a whole series of videos about the greenhouse so do go over and watch my videos if you would like, and also if you have not already subscribed to my You Tube channel please do, I have lots of growing tips on how to care for and grow cacti and succulents and I will be posting up lots more care tips now we are getting much closer to the growing season again.
Here are some photos of my wonderful new cactus greenhouse with all of the plants put away in there and all arranged, I hope you enjoy the photos and if you live in Ireland both north and south and are thinking of getting a greenhouse or a new greenhouse then I can highly recommend Steeltech.

I will be keeping my greenhouse heated at a minimum temperature of 5c /41F over winter.

Inside the new greenhouse before I bubble wrapped and set up the plant stands and the electrics.

After Bubble wrapping and setting up the electrics I started on moving in all of the heaviest and tallest of the cacti, these had to go in first before I could move in the plant stands.

Thanks so much for reading guys and not too long now until the warmer weather and longer days are here and lets get counting the days till spring arrives haha.
